Anyone watch PTI today? Bob Ryan was filling in for Michael Wilbon on the set. But in their "5 good minutes" segment, they actually HAD Wilbon on there. It was funny, because when Tony and Michael started going into their topics, it was if Bob Ryan wasn't even there.
I thought it was humorous, but it says a LOT to the chemistry that they have.

Michael Irvin Does Something StupidESPN football analyst Michael Irvin says he's sorry for his comments on Dan Patrick's national radio show a week ago that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's athletic ability must be due to African-American heritage.
Irvin said he tries to bring fans inside the world of the locker room. But he admitted he "crossed the line" when he joked some slave "brother" must have had relations with one of Romo's maternal ancestors. "Certainly, in this case I crossed the line," he said. "I need to learn how to better draw the line between bringing people into the locker room and the boundaries I should not go past as a broadcaster."
Are they finally going to can this guy's ass? I thought they would back when he was found with the pipe that he insisted belonged to his buddy or something. He never did explain why the cops said he looked so blazed, however.

John Kruk's voice makes me nervous. I wish he would shut up. He always does that crappy sportscaster half-shout half-talk thing that makes it sound like he's about
to make a real important point, but he never gets there. I miss Harold Reynolds. :O(

Are you ready for some KORNHEISER?!?
|Thursday, August 3rd, 2006|
I gotta admit...
the PTI B Team (Whitlock and LeBatard) has grown on me this summer. That said--where the hell is Kornheiser?!

Why do you think Harold Reynolds was fired???
I'm not really all that big into baseball, but HR and Peter Gammons are like staples to the network. Reynolds must've done something pretty crazy to get fired considering Michael Irvin didn't get fired after his incident.

Interesting with (minor) implications for ESPN
While watching the NHL Eastern Conference Finals (Go Canes!) I saw a commercial about OLN changing its name to Vs. A bit more info:
STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — The Outdoor Life Network is changing its name to vs. The new name will take effect in September, in time for the NHL season, OLN announced Monday.
"vs. is a word that perfectly captures the essence of our brand. It is immediate shorthand for competition and has a range that can suit everything from stick and ball sports, to bull riding, to field sports," network president Gavin Harvey said. "We felt it was a slam dunk, and sports fans we talked to all agreed."( Read more...Collapse )

) Current Mood: good
When and why did ESPN first get into bed with the Spelling Bee? I've got no real problem with it, it just seems an odd pairing. Current Mood: curious

Whom are your favorite and least favorite personalities on ESPN?
I once saw a poll for "most hated" ESPN personality, except they removed Stuart Scott as a selection because it was determined that he would win by a landslide. I guess they don't think he's as cool as the other side of the pillow. Just bananas.
Stinks, imo. But thats not the point of this post. A few days ago (might still be, haven't caught it in the past couple days), a big, fat black guy was the host. I never caught his name, but I liked him better than Rome. Granted, that isn't hard, but still. Who is that guy?
Do you like what he brings to the table on Countdown or do you think he's just yelling and screaming about nothing?
What's the strangest event you've seen on an ESPN network?
I recall seeing juggling championships one year. Anyone else seen anything good?
